About the painting:
I wanted to create a painting that describes my transition from my childhood home to being married. Although the last 1.5 years have been some of the best years of my life, we’ve grown and adjusted and found a beautiful life together. This painting depicts me making breakfast for my husband and I, a breakfast I used to make for myself when I was at my parent’s house. These fragmented perspectives and pieces of my painting reflect adjustment, a bit of uncomfortability and transition from one piece to another. All together, it creates a harmonious and cohesive scene but can feel a bit like pieces of a puzzle in the process of finding its place.
