I’m so excited to finally able to accept a limited number of private students in my studio! Teaching has become a huge passion of mine, having taught both kids and adults the fundamentals of drawing and painting over the last 5 years. I have worked with students of all levels, from beginner to advanced! It’s never too late to try! I create a learning plan designed specifically to get you to your artistic goals, whatever they may be! I can’t wait to work with you!

Learn Beginning Oil Painting in a 6-week group class setting at the Huntington Beach Art Center. This class is COMPLETELY beginner friendly! I will be teaching you about the materials used in oil painting, how to mix colors, how to read the color wheel, and basic concepts such as value and introductory color theory. Using still life as our subject, I will be working with you step-by-step with lots of class demonstrations and one-on-one help.
Next Class will be held Tuesdays 5pm-7pm June 25-July 30
$180 total (Just $30/class!!) + a small materials fee
Learn Intermediate Oil Painting in a 6-week group class setting at the Huntington Beach Art Center. Understanding of basic oil painting materials is recommended! I will be teaching you in-depth drawing skills, basic composition tools and how to create your own still life + paint it from life. You will be learning countless practical tools to become a skillful, independent painter.
Next Class will be held Tuesdays 1:30pm - 3:30pm June 25-July 30

You want lessons that align with your specific artistic goals. I create a learning plan designed just for you to guide you to what you want to learn. Lessons on your terms! I consider it a privilege to teach you. These lessons are for YOU, so I work my hardest to make sure I am giving you the highest quality material to guide you to your specific artistic goals. We work together - You tell me what you are interested in learning and I create lessons based on those things. Through this one-on-one learning experience, not only will you be able to reach your goals faster, you can explore as many topics that interest you as you want!
You’ve ever experienced being ahead, bored, behind or unmotivated in a large class. In these lessons, we have a dedicated hour or hour and half just for YOU. The benefit of this structure, is that we can optimize our time together by moving as fast or as slow as you want and need. We are completely flexible! My goal is for you to GROW. Sometimes that means spending a little extra time on a topic to make sure it’s fully understood or zooming ahead to the next topic.
You find yourself struggling with comparison and the pressure of a large class. Even though we don't want to admit it, many times in classrooms we look around and compare what's on our paper to others' in the room. That can sometimes cause us to withhold questions we have or maybe feel discouraged and in the end, it can hinder our progress. This is a judgement-free zone! I've been right where you are and understand fully how complex drawing/painting can be! Although group feedback can be helpful, it’s important to grow in confidence in your skills first!

What can I say? Michaela is the best. I was lucky to connect with her and become a student.
